What is a Day Master?

In Korean Saju (사주, the Four Pillars of Destiny), your birth is mapped to four "pillars" — year, month, day, and hour. Each pillar has a Heavenly Stem on top and an Earthly Branch below. The Heavenly Stem of your birth day is your Day Master: the anchor of the whole chart and the symbol of your core self. Everything else in the reading — relationships, career, luck timing — is interpreted in relation to it.

There are ten Day Masters: the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water), each in a Yang (outward) and a Yin (inward) form. The calculator above derives yours from your birth date using the sexagenary day cycle and shows your element, Yin/Yang, and a one-line archetype.

Day Master vs zodiac sign

Your zodiac animal comes from your birth year; your Day Master comes from your birth day.
