Korean Zodiac FAQ

What is the Korean zodiac (Ddi)?

The Korean zodiac, called Ddi (띠), is a 12-year cycle where each year is represented by an animal: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

How do I find my Korean zodiac animal?

It is set by your birth year. Enter your year above and the calculator returns your animal and element instantly. The zodiac year traditionally turns over around the lunar new year (late January to mid-February), so January / early-February births may belong to the previous year's animal.

What is the element of my Korean zodiac sign?

Each year also carries one of five elements — wood, fire, earth, metal, water — on a 10-year cycle. The same animal pairs with a different element across a 60-year cycle (e.g. a Wood Tiger vs. a Water Tiger).

Is the Korean zodiac the same as Saju (Four Pillars)?

No. Your animal comes only from the year, while Saju uses your full birth date and time to build four pillars for a much deeper reading. A complete Saju chart is available free on the main site.
