Saju App — Read Your Korean Four Pillars Online in English
Quick answer: A Saju app converts your birth date and hour into your Korean four-pillar chart (사주팔자), finds your Day Master, maps the Five Elements, and returns a written reading — the same steps a human reader takes, done automatically. Cheonmyeongdang does this in English in about a minute.

Read my chart
"Saju app" usually means an online tool that builds and interprets your four-pillar chart from your birth details. Here is what a good one actually does, and how to read what it gives you.
What a saju app actually does
Under the hood, a Saju app performs the same work a human practitioner does by hand — just faster and consistently:
- Builds your chart. It converts your birth year, month, day, and hour into eight characters — four Heavenly Stems and four Earthly Branches (사주팔자, Saju Palja).
- Finds your Day Master. The top character of your day pillar (일간, ilgan) is your anchor — the character everything else is read against.
- Maps the Five Elements. Each character belongs to Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, or Water (오행, ohaeng). The balance between them shapes the interpretation.
- Writes the reading. It applies the Sip-sin (십신, Ten Gods) relationships to describe personality, relationships, career, and timing in plain language.
The chart itself is deterministic: the same birth details always produce the same eight characters. What varies between apps is the quality and depth of the written interpretation on top of that chart.
What to check before you trust a saju app
| Feature | Why it matters |
| Birth-time input | The hour pillar needs your birth time. An app that ignores it can only read six of your eight characters. |
| True solar time | Traditional Saju uses local solar time. Correcting for birthplace changes charts near hour boundaries. |
| Day Master + elements | A real reading names your Day Master and element balance, not just a generic horoscope. |
| Readable language | The output should explain the characters, not just print Korean or Chinese symbols. |
Reading your chart in English
You do not need to read Korean to use a Saju app. Cheonmyeongdang is available in English and several other languages: you enter your birth date and hour, and it returns your four-pillar chart plus a written interpretation. If you want the background first, the Four Pillars of Destiny guide and the Saju Palja explainer cover how the eight characters are built.
